His performance experience includes AfroCuban, West-African, jazz, pop, funk, samba, bossanova, classical and a range of fusion projects. He also composes and arranges music and coaches other band members on rhythmic challenges.

Juan Carlos’ experience with AfroCuban choirs and international orchestras is coming into play when he writes Latin Jazz partitures for bands. When performing his own work, he usually does so as Wemilere trio, a fusion of jazz and AfroCuban traditional music including batá-drums, piano, vocals and flute/trumpet/saxophone.
